Level: Four days is a deliberate choice, not a compromise. It's long enough to settle into a rhythm — to feel your breath slow down, your sleep deepens, and your mind quiet — but short enough to fit naturally into a longer Sri Lankan journey. For travelers finishing a round tour of the island, this retreat becomes a graceful closing chapter rather than another item on the itinerary. · Yoga Alliance RYS 200
There's a particular kind of tiredness that comes from travel — even good travel. After days of temples, mountains, tuk-tuk rides and new faces, the body starts asking for something different: stillness, quiet mornings, and a little time to simply be, rather than see. That's the space this retreat was created for. Tucked just a few minutes' walk from the ocean, Lanka Yoga & Ayurveda Resort in Hikkaduwa offers a small, intimate setting for this 4-day beach yoga and meditation retreat — a short pause designed for people already deep into their Sri Lankan journey, or for anyone craving a compact, restorative break by the sea. This isn't a retreat that asks you to disappear from the world for two weeks. It's built for real travelers, with real itineraries, who still want their days to include genuine practice, rest, and reflection — without giving up their freedom to explore. A Rhythm, Not a Rulebook Each day follows a gentle structure that leaves room to breathe. Mornings begin quietly, with guided silent meditation rooted in Buddhist tradition, followed by a 75-minute mindful yoga session and a fresh tropical breakfast to start the day slowly and intentionally. The middle of the day is yours. Some guests choose to book a 1:1 yoga-therapy session, sound bath, or Ayurvedic treatment. Others head to the beach, try surfing or snorkeling, visit a nearby temple, or simply retreat into the garden with a book and the sound of the ocean nearby. There's no pressure to fill the hours — only the option to. As the light softens in the evening, the day closes with an hour of deep relaxation: Yin Yoga, Yoga Nidra, sound bath, or a guided inner journey, depending on the day. It's less about pushing the body and more about letting it finally exhale. Who Finds Their Way Here Many guests arrive at the tail end of a longer trip — having explored Sri Lanka's cultural triangle, hill country, or wildlife parks — looking for a few days to integrate everything before flying home. Others come simply for a short, focused wellness break, without committing to a longer retreat program. What they share is a desire for something real: a practice space that feels personal rather than programmed, and a schedule that respects both their need for stillness and their curiosity to keep exploring the island. A Small, Intentional Space Lanka Yoga and Ayurveda Resort keeps things small by design. The result is a retreat that feels less like a wellness resort and more like a quiet home by the sea — where the ocean is always nearby, the pace is unhurried, and four days is enough time to remember what it feels like to slow down.
